Our dearNabila Walji (1993-2022) passed away unexpectedly at Oxford University, UK at the age of just 28.
Her love for humanity was deep, and her passion towards equity, social justice, and supporting vulnerable communities was unrelenting.
This foundation was created as a living expression of those passions.
Also, every dollar you contribute is accounted for under CRA regulations held in "donor advised fund" with CF, and goes directly to the Nabila Walji Foundation. The Walji family covers the administration and recovery cost of the funds.

A Grandmother's Lasting Love and Presence
Nabila's grandmother was the heart of the family. She was their pillar of strength, the brightest light in every room she entered, and a constant source of warmth and encouragement. To Nabila, she wasn't just a grandmother; she was a best friend, a guardian, and the greatest cheerleader anyone could ask for.
In 2024, a shadow fell over their world as her grandmother fell ill. The family rallied around her, staying by her side through every difficult moment. Among them was her daughter, Rozina Walji, who made the long journey from Canada to be there, determined to share whatever time they had left.
In the hospital room, they all took turns sitting by her bedside, holding her fragile hand, whispering words of comfort and memories of happier times. On one afternoon, her daughter gently asked, “Have you eaten, Ma?” It was a simple question, a gesture of care. Her mother smiled softly, eyes closing as if savoring something sweet, and replied, “Yes, I’m eating kheer puri.”
Her daughter looked around, puzzled. There was no food in the room. "But, Ma, I don't see any kheer puri," she said. Her mother opened her eyes again, a serene smile spreading across her lips, and said, "Nabila's standing right here, feeding me kheer puri."
In that moment, the room filled with a deep sense of love and connection that went beyond words. It was as if Nabila's love had crossed the boundaries of the physical world, bringing comfort to her grandmother in ways they couldn’t understand. It was a reminder that love, in its purest form, could transcend even the hardest of times, creating a bond that nothing—not distance, not illness—could ever break.
